Weekend Babymoon in Dallas

Hubby and I moved to Austin, TX from Columbus, OH over five years ago away from all our family and trusted babysitters, so weekends away without our daughter are rare treats! With baby number two on the way, we wanted to take the time together to enjoy some days away from the parental hustle, schedule and time to just talk to one another, uninterrupted. Here are all the details about our "babymoon" weekend in Dallas, TX.

Stopped in Waco, TX for lunch at Milos. I had the ‘Farmers Daughter’s Breakfast” and a wonderfully flaky, buttery biscuit. Hubby ordered the breakfast burrito with added bacon.

We finished our drive to Dallas and checked into our adorable "Tiny Blue House" AirBNB in Oak Cliff within walking distance to Bishop Arts District.

In the evening, we walked to Bishop Arts District for dinner. Typically when we are on date nights, we will either split an appetizer, salad and entree for dinner or hop to several restaurants for an array of bites. Our first stop was Bouledvaire for ‘Mussels and Frites.' Our server was thoughtful to offer the bartender to craft a non alcoholic drink for me to enjoy based on my taste preferences. I was so happy with the fresh berry mock tail. The mussels had a well balanced smoky flavor and our waitress even followed up offering additional bread for us to dunk in the broth.

When we left Boulevardier, we walked around the shops and picked up slices from Emporium Pies to bring back to our cozy tiny house. We stopped into Bolsa for Steak Tartare and a drink for hubby before walking back to our house to relax for the evening. We continued to binge watch Shameless while digging into our pie from Emporium Pies.

We laid in bed the entire morning enjoying the escape from morning parental hustle and Favor delivery ordered breakfast tacos and coffee to our AirBNB.

Once we finally got out of our cozy bed, we explored Uptown, shopped in Highland Park and lunched at HG SPLY CO in Lower Greenville. I am obsessed with the 'HG Kale Caesar.'

When we were done exploring the various Dallas districts, we picked up food from Eatzi’s to eat later. and then relaxed in our AirBNB, watching football and resting our feet. At 31 weeks along in this pregnancy, I am definitely feeling VERY pregnant right now!

We drove to Arlington, TX and brought our food from Eatzi’s to Legal Draft brewery. Enjoyed live music while noshing on our fruit, salad and baguette from Eatzi’s.

Concert time!!! We walked into the AT&T Stadium for Ed Shareen concert. Relaxed at the bar while listening to opening acts Lauv and Snow Patrol then made our way to our seats to for a lot of singing and dancing during Ed Shareen!

Sunday morning brunched at Dream Cafe. I absolutely loved my fresh pressed apple, pineapple and carrot juice! For some reason I obsess over carrot juice during pregnancy. Hubster ordered the 'Ode to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles', we split a 'Cloud Cake' (fluffy and sweet pancake made with ricotta) and I had ‘The Strap Hanger’ (eggs, hash browns and vegetarian sausage).

It was awesome to enjoy our last quiet moments together at Dream Cafe, but the kid friendliness of the restaurant and all the cute kiddos made us miss our little girl! Often times as parents, the best thing you can do is step away for a moment to refresh. It feels good to miss your children and it's also important to keep the romance alive.
