600 Degrees Pizzeria
Tonight we went to one of our favorite local restaurants, 600 Degrees Pizzeria located right off the square in downtown Georgetown, TX. 600 Degrees Pizzeria is so busy they had to expand to the space next door and if you arrive at 6pm on a Friday or Saturday night you can still expect a bit of a wait (don't worry you can grab a draft beer or a glass of wine while you wait). The inside of the restaurant is loud, they serve pizza and there is plentiful booth seating, so bring the kids along!
There are a few reasons I love this place and continue to go back. First of all, the vibe is a total throw back. I grew up in a small town in Ohio where on the weekends everyone went to Bucks Bar and Grill that was known (in my mind at least) for great pizza, french fries and salads (amazing Italian dressing!!!). There was something you immediately felt when you walked into Bucks that made you feel right at home and 600 Degrees Pizzeria takes you right back to that childhood comfort. I attribute this feeling of nostalgia to the wooden booths, metal plates and classic cheese and pepper shakers.
Second, the food is consistantly delicious. Our traditional family order is the dry rub ranch wings (so crispy and flavorful!), a slice of pepperoni pizza and the Greek salad for me with added grilled chicken. They offer a huge rotating selection of draft beers and a unique offering of wine. Even though their menu is simple, they offer something for everyone including gluten free crust. 600 Degrees Pizzeria has a huge list of specialty pizzas featuring flavor combinations that please vegetarians, meat eaters and even east coasters with their white clam pizza. You can also create your own combination from a large list of fresh toppings, cheese and sauce varieties and crust types. Get this, you can even tell your server that you want to order the "baker's choice" and give them a flavor profile you dig or specific toppings you want to avoid and the pizza geniuses in the back will whip up something special for you!
Finally, and what I think is HUGE for any business is the service. It's incredible how far kindness can take you right? Every single time we have eaten here we have had servers that go above and beyond whether it's making sure our daughter has a cup of water with a lid, asking the timing of how we would like our menu orders to arrive at our table, describing menu items in detail and even having light hearted conversation with us without rushing off to help another table.
It comes to no surprise to me that 600 Degrees Pizzeria is opening a sister location in downtown Round Rock, TX which will be called Slap Box Pizzicheria. From what we hear Slap Box will offer the same quality pizza, but have a larger menu. Rumor has it the restaurant will open late fall this year. I cannot wait to check it out!
